Overview

This is a one year full time course leading to a Level 5 QQI Award in Community Health Services.

The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to develop the knowledge, skills and competence to work under supervision in a range of community health service settings or to progress to further and/or higher education and training.

On completion of this course students gain employment
in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Community Care Homes
or go on to further education in the field. It can also be a stepping stone into our Level 6 Health Services Supervisory Management course.

The course is delivered under the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme. VTOS provides general education and training opportunities for unemployed adults, by enabling them to retain their Social Welfare entitlements while in full- time study. To be VTOS eligible applicants must be at least 21 years of age by the course start date and in receipt of certain social welfare payments or must be signing for credits at
least 6 months before the start date. However, if an applicant does not fit this criterion he/she may apply for BTEA (Back to Education Allowance) and attend the course as a PLC student.
